SKILLED has one of Australia’s most diverse workforces with its people working in industries as varied as contact centres, major hospitals, manufacturing facilities and coal mines.  With such a range of skilled employees, working in such distinct industries across the entire geographic footprint of Australia and elsewhere in the world, its payroll and human resource management solutions required a game-changing solution. This is drawn into sharp focus considering SKILLED pay up to 15 000 employees per week and a massive 60 000 unique individuals over the year, complying with 632 industrial instruments with a total of over 3000 pay runs annually.

SKILLED aimed to transform Payroll, Invoicing and Finance processes, structures and systems to enable “world’s best” service delivery and support SKILLED Group’s growth targets. Legacy systems were viewed as limiting potential, manual processes were complex and inefficient and workarounds were causing lack of clarity in process.

How Has Agilyx Helped?
  • Payroll no longer based on the manual submission of paper based timesheets.
  • Electronic interface of timesheet data and images from a variety of interfaces.
  • Parallel processing of time for billing purposes and for payroll purposes (old system required a sequential process, meaning bills went out much later than what is now possible in Business World).
  • Workflow distribution and approvals of invoice proposals to the customer managers, ensuring bills are reviewed and accurate.
  • Invoices e-mailed to customers, incorporating the images of the authorised timesheets provided a huge timesaving for branch offices who used to have to dig out and photocopy timesheet copies when bills were queried.
  • Improved billing cycle and increased accuracy and quality of invoice information greatly improved their cash collection cycle and minimised customer queries.
  • Both billing and payroll enabled very detailed job-costing (including all payroll on-costs), improving their job profitability reporting and enabling “management by exception”.
  • Improved information storage and accessibility, complete integration and cross-module sharing of information enabled the inbuilt Business World reporting functionality to deliver extensive new reporting and analysis for all departments.
  • SKILLED have dozens of operating legal entities all managed within the one financial ledger, greatly easing the production of consolidated financial reports.
